A debt collector agency served me court papers. The following day I called them and asked told them I needed to take care of this, I never admited to having the debt just that I needed to take care of it. The debt is mine and we are going to court tomorrow and I can't sleep. I owe 1,100 and recently offered them a 800 settlement that they refused and said they needed a min of 1,000. Any suggestions for court or actions for the debt collectors?

go to court expense your explanation for delay, you can said the bad economy, trying hard to make end mean. court will ask how much you can pay. you offer to settle $600 now and installment on the remaining $500 over 5 months, u pay $100 each month. Also ask the court to issue injunction to stop the over due interest.

if the court push hard, give them your initial offer of $800. and $100 for next 3 months.

The court will probably close the case. Coz ultimately, they just want you to pay. as long you make an effort to pay and show sincerely that you have intention to pay the remaining, the case can be closed.
