I have just logged into my online banking and noticed a £50.00 POS debit card transaction on my account yesterday, i know for a fact i didn't even touch my account yesterday so it definitely wasn't me and i have my debit card with me?

I have tried to call the fraud number for Natwest but they are not open. What could this be - i am really confused as i haven't used my debit card!!

What action can i take about this? It doesn't even show where the transaction was made to!

Many thanks :-)

Ok first thing, debit card payments take a few days to go through and may show up on a day you didn't make a purchase! Think back to last week, did you go shopping? What about Ebay/Paypal or any other online transactions you may have done?

What about any debit card payment that get taken on a specific date?

For instance my LoveFilm payments are POS every month. They have my card details on their system but do not have my card and put the bill through on the 10th. It then takes a few days to show up.

If you really haven't made any purchases around this amount or anything else, forget the fraud team and call customer services or your telephone banking number asap and they should be able to help you from there!

It is easy to panic, so please try not to. If it really is a fraudulent transaction they will help you, but remember, it's also easy to forget a transaction (it has happened to me and a few people I know!)

Good Luck!

With a pos (point of sale) transaction sometimes not all transactions are debited from your card straight away it all depends on the retailer, so although you may not have used your card on that particular day it may have been from a few days ago. When a pos is debited from the account we are unable to see it straight away, u will have to wait until Monday then just call ur local branch they can advise what the payment is and if need be refer you to fraud but don't panic just yet!!

Not all debit card transactions show as the day you made them, but I would keep an eye on your account today as fraudsters who have got hold of your details often start with a relatively small amount to see if it gets flagged and then work their way up. They did mine for £50, then £650 on another well know site and were trying for something worth £1500 when bank stopped card. i got it all back by the way.

Customer services are open today, can they not tell you where the money was spent? If not I guess you'll have to wait til tomorrow/Tuesday for your online statement to update. I wouldn't worry, you should be able to get the money back if it's a fraudulent transaction

Firstly check your card details if you have it with you. There may be a contact number on the card.

Actually, I found this:

Question it straight away, and you should get your money back if it was really a fraud. But do it soon or it could happen again.

Yes you'll need ID if yo dont have your cards through from the NATWEST. You will need a pound or two in there.

Paid studies exist because your time and viewpoints are valuable. Companies understand they can not get your feedback free of charge. That' why they spend millions of dollars on paid surveys each year for individuals like you to offer their much needed opinions on products and services.
