Rule #1 and the most important rule is pay yourself first. Make saving your first priority. I have heard that Thursday is the best day to buy gas. Plan a weeks menu and then go to the store once a week. Use coupons. When going shopping make a list and don't buy anything that isn't on your list. Stay out of the mall unless you have something specific you need to buy. No impulse buying. Buy what you can afford not necessarily what you want. Those big screen TV's are lovely but you can buy a decent picture for alot less. Best day to buy a car is Monday or the last day of the month when the salesmen are trying to get their bonus. Best months to buy furniture is Feb and Aug. Paint is the cheapest way to improve the appearance of your home. Congrats on the new home. Good Luck

Saving money is a good thing my tips for them are use credit period if u can. Max utilise the stores where u can get discounts on M.R.P's and avoid going to big shopping malls as u will be tempted to buy thing which are not necessary at that moment

My top money saving tip after buying a house is as follows:

- Buy in bulk when stuff goes on sale.

- stock everyday use items when they are on sale

- Make use of mastercard that offer points towards groceries.

- have a fixed grocery day

- eating out one to twice a week only

- Also opening up a savings account and depositing money in it right away.

- no more coffee at work. I bring mine.

200 work days X 2$ = 400$

- I change my cable TV package.

Save 12$/month, 144$/year.

- I change my cell phone package.

+12$/month for more minutes, -50$/month in surprise "over minutes".

One year save : 38$X12= 456$

- I take my car 2 times a week to go to work. 3 days of bus.

3 X 12$ savings = 36$/week

One year = 1500$
