So, I lended my mum £70 just before the weekend and then another £60 on sunday. She's having a bank account issue at the moment and her bank account is screwed up. She says she gave me the £70, but i seriously have my doubts because if i did get it i dont know what i spent it on and thats a rarity. Considering the cash crisis and credit crunch and all that jazz, what should I do 1) confront and explain that i dont think i got the £70 or 2) forget about the £70 and just be happy with the £60 she says i'm getting back?

I myself would forget the whole thing if it were my Mom, and I could afford it. After all that is a drop in the bucket compared to what it cost over the years to raise me.

I don't mind helping out if it is needed here and there.

I would go to my mother and explain to her that you never received the $70 and if you did get it you have no idea what it was spent on. There may be a little confusion but next time be sure to write down when she pays you back.

It sounds like your mum is just as convinced she paid you back as you are that she didn't pay you back. You could get into a head butting, he said she said argument nd put a big old dent in your relationship with your mother or let it go. Would you rather win an argument or have a good relationship with your mother?

Even though she is your mother I would still confront her. My wife had the same issue with her mum, and if she hadn't raised her voice and confronted her about it, her mum would have kept borrowing. It's your money! Your mum should be old enough to know better.

When i lend my mom money, and she can't afford to return it, i feel bad asking becasue she spent so much on me growing up.. so i always just let it go if i am more well off than she is.

MAYBE YOU SHOULD CHECK YOUR BANK ACCOUNT AND YOUR transactions. If you didnt get it from her, just let her know that, dont expect it back , its your mother. 70 $ isnt alot of money especially for family
