If so, where can I find them? I looked & I know they have habitat for humanity. Which I am applying for because where we live portions of our home are unlivable. The master bathroom has intense mold damage. The house is poorly insulated. Sliding door falls out if we try to open it. The porches are rotten. Ants invade our home during the summer. Not to mention our failing ac which doesn't work well for any weather over 85 degrees. I have 3 girls under 4 who need a decent home & we can't afford the repairs on this house. Do they have grants for home improvement? Or is that just a scam? We have extra window ac's for the summer. We put ant repellent where needed. We don't use the sliding door since it has the tendancy to fall out. We've sealed off the moldy bathroom. We have one operational bathroom. With 3 girls & 1 male in the house :( Any help would be appreciated....

They do not exist. We have not seen a grant for 15 years. It is amazing that the scammers keep advertising them on late-night tv.

You can apply for "bond money" at your city or county, but it is not a gift. You must repay the money.

There are only grants for this IF you run a business like a day care, nursing home, etc. The government does not give out free money for personal use. How are they to know that you would not use the money to "flip" your house and make a quick buck? Can you imagine if people were able to get grants to do that? So in order to curtail that, you need to have a general welfare type business to qualify for any federal improvement assistance. Sorry about that

Each state should have something related to a department of housing. There are federal grants administered by local government for insulation purposes for low income people. Check with you county court house.
