Question:
I am looking for a book to help me in dealing with my finances in retirement?

I am 72 and fairly actively retired for five years. Widower for the last decade, helping our only child to grow up, finish college and get settled, during that time. I have a pension and some IRA and other savings, but not much equity in my home because I made some foolish (I think) borrowing on the house and did not realize what was happening to the equity position until it was too late. This is a real dilema because I live in the highest median family income county in the USA! I should move, but think I should get the home price up somehow, maybe by upgrading or just waiting. Value declined lately, but should go up due to its location. My pension is unlikely to go away since it is from the Federal Government. Also, the investments are pretty good, but nothing what they should be, I suppose. My home equity is very low, despite 30 years of mortgage payments. That hurts! I hoping to find literature and advice more directly related to my situation than I have found so far.

The authors, who conduct retirement seminars, understand just what retirees want to know--from basics about financial planning (rethink the way you spend and save) and choosing a retirement lifestyle to finding that perfect retirement home; they even include armchair visits to top retirement destinations in 13 states. With easily reproducible checklists and worksheets and numerous Web sites and phone numbers to make follow-up easy, this handy resource brims with plain good sense about making some hugely important decisions.

As to upgrading your house: keep in mind that certain upgrades raise the value more than others. Typically the two best areas to modify are the kitchen and the bathrooms. These are most likely to bring in at least as much as you spend and, if done well, more.

If you can afford it both financially and in terms of time, waiting can be a good choice as you will a) start increasing your equity over time and b) hopefully have the value of the house and land increase enough that you can sell the house for a reasonable profit.

However, you also need to assess your ability to take care of a house in terms of both your future health and your interest in the numerous chores involved. For example, if you enjoy travel a condo or an apartment could be a good choice.

My parents are a few years older than you, but they recently moved into an apartment in a complex with several levels of care. They live independently and come and go pretty much as they wish. However, as they age, they have options available to them that will make life easier, such as a bus to take them places so they don't need to drive, a barber shop, pool, exercise classes, library, small grocery store, and dining hall on site so they don't need to leave the building if they don't want to. There are higher levels of care with visiting nurses, physical therapists and aides of various types if such is needed.

The reason for this move was that a) moving won't get easier as they get older and b) both have developed health conditions that are or will eventually limit their activities.

Anyway, hope the books have what you are seeking.

The Koran teaches that human beings of the muslim faith ought to kill their enemies, Jesus taught that we ought to consistently love our enemies. Buddha taught that there is not any sin/forgivness. Jesus gave his lifestyles under the concept that He replaced into the sacrifice for everyones sin. The Hindu's have faith there are dissimilar gods, Jesus taught that there is One God. Jesus taught that mankind had a commencing off up, and can have an end, optimal others coach that subject concerns are on a cycle that doesn't end. There are alot of option alterations, and the main significant complicated or outrageous is that which holds Jesus as much as be the son of God, and his dying on my own is the atonement for each guy or lady's sin... in keeping with each and each little element i've got have been given learn, it leaves basically 3 concepts, he replaced into who he says he replaced into, or he replaced into loopy, or he deliberatly lied to all human beings he have been given here into touch with. i don't think of of he replaced into loopy through utilising the way historic past recorded him. i don't think of of he replaced into mendacity, applying actuality his strikes and speech weren't in settlement with mendacity his 12 closest acquaintances died tremendously unfavorable deaths in keeping with a reality. If it replaced ideal right into a lie, they might have admitted it extremely than get their heads chopped off, or impaled, or the like... who would desire to die for a lie? there is better, yet it somewhat is a pair of suggestions that spring to suggestions as to why i think of of my faith is unquestionably and suitable, and others incorrect. basically my 2 cents
