The following garbage has been filling my Spam inbox for several weeks now. I DO NOT have an HSBC account and I am not sure whether to approach HSBC about this. I mean, do they have a fraud group within their banking institutions? Here is the details of the e-mail:

'A recent review of your account determined that we require some additional information from you in order to provide you with secure service.

How to verify your HSBC account:

1. Submit the form attached to your email in order to verify your HSBC Bank Account.
2. HSBC made two small deposits to your bank account.
3 Check your bank account in 3-5 days for the deposit amounts.
4. Log in to your HSBC Bank account and enter the exact deposit amounts.

Your HSBC account will be Verified.

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,

HSBC Account Review Department

Just put it into spam, it will block the address and you wont get anymore. You could forward a copy to hsbc fraud section if you want, they are very common though so they probably know about it.

I get the same, and from other banks too. I don't even open them. I mark them as a phishing scam and delete them. I guess you could try contacting the bank through their website (obviously not the email), but I suspect all that will happen is that more will still come through via other senders. Just delete before reading.

this email is not from HSBC, it sounds like a typical phishing scam. someone is hoping that if you did have an account w/ them that you would be stupid enough to log into your account from the link they provided for you in the email.

Do not respond to this email in any way, shape, or form. If you do then you will be alerting the scammers that they contacted a valid email account & then they can now do their best to target you or find a way to use your email to aid them in their scams.

Just ignore / delete it.

This type of thing is a very common 'phishing' scam trying to get you to put your security info in to a fake web page so the senders can get access to your accounts.

You may get them pretending to be from any bank, paypal, ebay, facebook - any web site that scammers want to take over accounts on.

NEVER click on a web link to a web site than needs sign-in info if you get it in an email. always type the proper web link yourself & save it as a favourite for future use.

Probably a scam
